President Tinubu Commends Super Eagles for AFCON Triumph and Pledges Continued Support

President Bola Tinubu, in a reception at the State House in Abuja, lauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria for showcasing team spirit and discipline during their remarkable journey at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire. Emphasizing the strength derived from diversity, the President commended the team's unity, determination, and resilience on the field.

Addressing the players, President Tinubu expressed pride in their outstanding display, stating, ''As a team, you taught us lessons on resilience, togetherness, diversity, and excitement in competitive games.'' Despite initial doubts, the Super Eagles progressed to the finals, facing challenges with commendable sportsmanship and determination.

Acknowledging the difficulties faced, President Tinubu promised to further invest in sports and youth development. He declared his commitment to attracting private sector investment in the Nigerian Professional Football League, emphasizing the growth of the local league.

In recognition of their achievement, the President conferred national honors on each team member and announced the donation of a flat and a plot of land to each player. Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, praised the President's support and highlighted the absence of issues related to allowances and bonuses, crediting the team's focus on their matches.

Vice-Captain William Troost-Ekong expressed gratitude for the support in Ivory Coast and pledged to work hard to surpass their achievements, aiming for a gold medal in the next competition.
